Cyprus Introdcution:-
Cyprus is an island divided in to two halves, the North and the South sides. The Northern side is Turkish and the southern side is Greek. The island is separated by the green line that runs through the capital city, Nicosia. The green line is a demilitarized zone maintained by the United Nations. Nicosia (Turkish: Lefkosa, Greek: Lefkosia) is the capital of Cyprus and is currently the only divided capital in the world.
Education in Cyprus:-
Overall responsibility for education rests with the Ministry of Education and
Culture. However, a small number of vocational and post-secondary professional
institutions come under the Ministries of Labor and Social Insurance,
Agriculture and Health. The educational system in Cyprus can be broadly defined
in five parts: pre-school education, primary education and secondary education,
higher education, and informal education. Informal education aims at providing
education and training for those unable to benefit adequately from formal
education. There are many high quality schools in Cyprus with a high standard of
teaching and good facilities. A brief guide for education in Cyprus is provided.
There are 5 universities in the whole of Cyprus taking in many foreign students
and offering a variety of courses. The universities offer student accommodation
and have various student unions run by the students themselves.
There is a student guide providing information on student life in Cyprus.
